$5 kawasaki flywheel puller

i found a thread on pwc that helped me. i did not see it posted here so i figured i would post for others. i needed a kawasaki 750 flywheel puller quick so i could go ride one weekend. of course no kawasaki dealer has the puller in stock and i looked for several other alternatives with no luck. i went to napa auto parts and picked up a 18mm spark plug thread chaser. you can pick them up at just about any auto store for $5. worked great for me on two flywheels and has worked for several others on pwc. the only down side is the chaser has sharp threads and some say you could strip the threads. i tightened it down a little bit popped with a hammer and flywheels came right off. workwed great for me.hope this may help a few others, it was nice not to have to wait to ride!

I stripped a motionpro flywheel remover on mine. Then I stripped a thread chaser... I think if I had started with the thread chaser I might have been ok, but it was still tough, even with a 3 bolt puller (after drilling and tapping the flywheel and ruining it).

I see you guys haven't read the thread where the cheap ass plug chaser broke off in the flywheel,$5.00 tool versus $100.00 flywheel, let me think on that one a bit.

I stripped the bejesus out of my Kasasaki puller a few weeks ago. I went to Autozone and got the 14mm/18mm chaser and got the flywheel off.

Then I purchased another OEM flywheel remover.

:)

I would advise the thread chaser for emergencies only.

dont use the thread chaser- the interrupted threads on it do NOT
play well with the interrupted threads on the flywheel.
Go to a hardware fastener specialty store. I got a metric
18 mm hardened bolt for about $5

I've used the thread chaser several times now with no issues. Little bit of anti-seize on it and thread all the way in by hand and a quick hit with the impact gun and off pops the flywheel. Originally used because there is nowhere locally that had a 18mm bolt and the kawi dealer didn't have the puller in stock.
