Freestyle 550 750 freestyle conversion

im going to be gone for the weekend ill post some tray pics on monday before i hydroturf it. As for the 650/750 pump setup, i am waiting for the bolt on kit to come out. Glassing in a 650 pump cavity would be a daunting task for someone of my experience level, and i feel like id really compromise the quality of the ski...theres just too much that could go wrong. Glassing the deck was hard enough with all the odd angles where i chopped and then rounded the siderails (youll see what i mean when i post the pics). There is a kit coming out (hopefully soon) that will allow you to bolt a 650 pump right in to the 550 without any glasswork. It seems like the safest, most durable option out there so im planning on holding out for that.

He actually meant to say he's lazy...:p

Not sure on when it will come out. it will use a new 650 pump shoe to mount it into the inlet tract.

What he emailed me.

"price range will be around $300. there will be no fiberglass required. it will bolt in the current pump well and use a custom pump shoe for the 650 pump. The pump shoe sets the pump back 2" making it almost the same as a 750 pump tract. In fact it will use a 750sx intake grate."

Im also waiting for the Rhaas pump conversion kit. Very patiently too!!! lol, they said 5 months ago it would be done in a month, im starting to have my doubts. Anyway glassing in a 650 pump cavity into my last ski sucked, the end result was great, but id rather pay $300 and do it clean and easy.

I rode my 550/750 for the first time this weekend.... i was impressed that nothing broke. Mechanically it is very sound and ran the whole day. I was a little disappointed with the performance though...i was expecting alot more power but i guess that what you get with a 550 pump and a 19* impeller. Also there are a bunch of holes drilled in the endcap of my supertrapp. I know this reduces acceleration but im not sure by how much. Ill be interested to know what i topped out at....we didnt clock it but it feels insane. The top end on this thing is ridiculous.

Your acceleration took a much bigger hit from the tiny pump and from being underpropped, waterbox makes no difference compared to this.

You really need a 440 pump with a 21 degree skat, bulkhead brace, and a bored nozzle. Holy sh**t that would be a HUGE difference with that motor.

550 pump is trash. 440 is high output and it would have maybe 75% of the power a 650 pump would give you, but the 550 pump only has 50% lol
I'm doing a big yami 701 550 conversion this winter, instead of the tedious pump conversion I'm just carbon reinforcing the bulkhead and running a 440 pump and drive line, yes its that much better than the 550 pump especially if your pushing a big motor. Put a 440 pump in dere and you will be more than happy.
