300/440/550 550 "freestyle" build -7 hull -6 pole "foot holds"

I like your concept. I have a special place for 550 in my heart as well. Play with the hull as much as you want, but dont spoil the motor with silly mods, either replace or build it - it will be worth a bit of money , if the project does not work out too well, you can sell the motor or get a new 100 usd 550 hull.

I am not sure whether new hood is necessary, oem is not bad after a little tweaking and reinforcing. I fear that Sj pump fill not fit easyily and extensive mods will be necessary, you can always do that later after trying the oem pump setup first. Test and test again and something surprising might come out of this. Good luck man!
Thanks for the positive! things are deffintly loking up i cant wait to get it in the water as is so i can try out this viper motor! but my hopes is once it is cut up that it will have out standing performance...well atleast outstanding compared to what it is hah

I trimmed my cable housing back, and put the end back on. I am running the old style throttle cable that only has one end and was meant for the old round bodies. I cut the clamping piece off the round body and it will bolt right onto an SBN, im not sure if it will work on your carbs but you may have to get creative. Your coupler gap is way too big. you should have a spacer behind the coupler on your motor to bump it out. Also i know on the old 440s the rubber damper can only go in one way because of a lip in the center of the coupler and will not allow the motor to slide all the way back if its in backwards.
yea maybe it is on wrong then cause it would not go on at all but i thought it might have been because the coupler is a brand new pjs coupler so i thought thats why it was tight. where would i get on of these spacers? i got another coupler should i just cut it in half?

so today i cut up my throttle cable and got the end soldered back on its still not exactly right but it will last long enough to test this thing and get me through the season till the real project begins! so my idea for the deck is to lower it a little to get that center of gravity down. i was gonna do that swoop that kawi does but i think im gonna scratch that and make this similar to that light weight evolution hull with the ajustable/removable foot holds but thats still debatable!

im uploading a little running clip i took of it today and also just a quick scan of the hull. it's pretty smoky but im pretty sure not only is that from running the fuel a little rich but when the motor came there was a ton of oil in it to keep everything from rusting.

beating on the new motor a little. sorry im impatience and have no self discipline to not give it a little throttle!! wish i lived on a lake hah. anyways this first one is just a quick pan i guess i didnt realize how quick of a pan t was though and the second is it running for a few
