300/440/550 550 freestyle/freeride Hood Customization

I dont mean to be a burn out

but just sell the 550 and save and buy an SJ. A stock SJ is like x10000 times better tha most modded 550s.

ahhh i can't find 1!! ive been looking for a while now and the only thing close was a fx-1 in the paper but it was way over priced.
I guess i'l just stick to my 2 550's for now.

and thats cool but modding them is throwing in money you'll never get back that you could have spent on an SJ

i would but if i did i would want a 701 roundnose. i hate square noses and the round ones are way to expensive and besides i just cant sell my 550 i just cant do it.

You would rather ride a underpowered 550 of very questionable looks.....thena more powerfull and better looking ski.....OKAYYYYYYYYYYY

I'm not being anything but honest here. By looking at his signature, he's serious about freestyle and wants to learn more. That 550 is holding him back from doing what he wants.

If two people cant exchange opinions on this board, it needs to be shut down.

Waste Land is right. its one thing to have a 550 but don't throw a bunch of money at it. just ride it and save for something better. A fx1 would actually be a good ski, its small and light like your 550 but it has a 701 for real power.

okay thats fine but putting a bit of money into a hood liner so it will keep the water out is a great idea for him if he can't afford a new ski. Any ski you put money into is a bad investment, you never get that money back but we all do it. how much would it cost him to lay up a hood liner? 30 bucks?? This is the vinatge section so lets keep it about the old skis, "not get a superjet." Give him an answer that helps him, he obviously he knows that the 550 is not a 1000cc freestyle machine but its not going to stop him from riding it. I say he lays up the liner and direct the water to his bilge pump becuse i know my 550 brings on water like mad with just a sub or a fountain.

i think riding that 550 will make him a better rider. if he can learn on that just to do some basic tricks and then he steps up to the sj platform when he has the cash.

Thats right man, usually when someone make a post they would like a solution quickly, not sell that pos and save up for a year or two and then start modding an even bigger money pit. Everyone has to start somewhere and for him and myself it was on a 550. I also will never let that 550 leave my shack. they are still fun, thats what its about.

I understand what your saying. But most would rather throw money away on a powerfull and capable. Or throw your money into a pit that makes squat, and isnt as freestyle capable.

its not like he was ordering a lightweight carbon fiber hood (not that they make one for a 550) he was only going to mod the stock one so he didnt fill it uip with water so fast.

Hey, i know im not going to be jumping doing flatwater back flips and barrel rolls but that still doesnt stop me from enjoying my hobby. I would love a superjet and to dump a buncha money into it too but i cant afford that. so while i have the ski i have im going to have as much fun with it as I can. Sure wont go pro with it but If i sold my 550 with all the custom things im doing to it and bought a superjet i would feel like just another guy with a freestyle superjet. This is old school and making that machine the best that it can be is what makes it different and fun. a true hobby i enjoy so thanks alot i appreciate your comment and opinion believe me ill get one eventually but for now this is my ski and im having the time of my life tinkering with it, building on it, getting creative and thinking of different and new things to try and go as big as i can get it to go.

whats wrong with squares??
Nothing personal theres Nothings wrong with them i just dont like the square of it. and their the easiest to find... kinda but with a 701 i think thats a rare find.
If i ever got one id get the round nose hull i just like em better thats all.

i agree ^^^^

i have a 650sx i am trying to sell to get a rn superjet

i like the challenge of trying to tear it up on the 650sx but am all for a sj because they are just so much of a better ski and parts are easily available

my friend's first jet ski is an sxr but when he gets on mine he constantly falls ................but like he said you got to start somewhere

now you got me thinking. i got everything i need to do it to my pjs hood. hmmm the 550 might get some lovin tommorrow. You'll get some good practice for when you get your SN superjet and need to do that hood. and then eventually you'll get a RN jet and buy a sweet C/F hood. you got lots time/years to get to the RN superjet. no hurry. all of the best rider i know are older than me and they rip cause they have years of riding and building to get to the point they are today. Its just good times.
