You will have to get a conversion plate from either JRE on Ebay (mine has been GREAT!)

or one from John Zigler here:

Also, you'll have to machine the case to accept a 650 starter if you intend on using 550 electrics. I would recommend this route. I used all 750 electrics in mine, but wouldn't do it again if I had a choice. It was a major PITA getting it all to fit & the coil isn't even in the E-Box.

Do i have to alter the shaft at all? ive read some about this but dont know if it was the problem of usen a 750 in the 550 or what

ive got a 750 in my 440 and I have a lot of captiviation. A 650 is good enough imo and the elec is easier to make work. The 650s are cheaper too. If I had to do it all over again I would probably just throw a 650 in it. These skinny hulls arent the best for high speed runs. Fun ski though, i'll probably never sell it.

to get a 750 in, you have to use the 550 coupler. If it's a big pin 750, you will have to either bore & re thread the 550 coupler or you can buy a billet one from JRE.

I think it's brand new. According to their ad, it's cnc machined. EDIT: after re-reading, yes it is.

This thread may sound like they sponsor me or something, hehe. There's just not that many people making new parts for 550s these days. I had a family member rethread mine, but I destroyed some of the threads last summer while swapping motors. It has held fine, but I'll probably buy one of these before it's all said & done.
