The 550 pump really isn't designed to handle the power of the 650 and especially not for freestyle. I don't remember pitch of the prop but one of the first guys to put a 750 in a 550 hull and use a 550 pump had a prop that would take him to 55mph or so and it still cavitated real bad at the bottom.

There are a couple guys that put bigger pumps in their 550's. Might be worth a look to see if it's something you could do.

Hes actually running a 440 pump. I understand they are not the best pumps either but hes just trying to make due with what he has. This week were going to try porting another pump housing and experiment with other props. Any suggestions on pitch or pump mods would be greatly appreciated.

The 440 pump is not going to ever work worth bean's with that kind of power if you get a js 550 driveshaft you can swap to a 550 pump and then go with like a 15/20 solas or something along those lines, quite truthfully a stock kawi 650 is all that 550 hull can handle beyond that structuraley it just destroy's them especially in surf.

no structural problems with my 750/550 in the surf. It's been reinforced though. I plan on installing a 14/19 soon & trying that out. I like my straight 16 now, but this should be a nice improvement.

Just noticed this reply. I'm running a 550 pump. Installed the 14/19 yesterday, but I won't be able to hit the water again until at least Sunday. Oh, and that 16 I had in there, really turned out to be a 13/18 :pancake:
