300/440/550 550sx Hull Modernization Build

And the final plot twist in this journey...

After making the trip back home 2 weekends ago I started to take inventory of what needed to be done to this hull yet. Keep in mind that it had been almost 4 years to the date since I had last worked on this hull. The work that still needed to be done was racking up in my head and I knew that it was going to take weeks and a larger garage space compared to what I have available to me right now in Colorado.

Long story short - I decided right there and then that I am not going to finish this project and I'd rather sell or give the hull away to someone on here who wants to finish it.

A lot has changed in the last few years for sure - but one thing that I'm finding more and more is that my free time that I had back when I started this project no longer exists... but my love for being out on the water or behind the bars of a motorized vehicle be it a dirtbike, jet ski or even a mountain bike - that hasn't changed! So to get myself back on the water I decided to look for an old superjet and picked one up literally 2 days later...

So - Sorry all for the lame ending and final pump fake - but I really do want to give this hull to a good home - EDIT (Late 2019): The hull has been acquired by a friend in Pennsylvania.

I'm glad that this build inspired others. Perhaps that was it's main reason for existence haha - to prove that composite work isn't scary and if you want to make a cool looking jet ski all it takes is time and determination. I know quite a few people and even some of the hull manufacturers out there these days got a bit of inspiration from this project - so in reality maybe this was all a success!

Given that this project was indeed an inspiration for others - I decided to create a Wiki style index in the first post that addresses all the major sub parts of this project - Visit It Here!

I have been in water sports since I was a kid and love being on the lake we shoot for ever weekend. I have just recently started really wanting to build a ski and have tried making some offers to only come up short. I have not followed your post from the beginning but I would love to take over on your build if we could get together on something. I am a toolmaker by trade so i understand the hard work that goes into something like this and would love the opportunity to finish this project. let me know what you think or maybe pm me and we can talk further.

I am in the middle of a 550sx to 750 swap and i was following this build from early on. I am located in NJ and would love to use this hull instead of my current one. Please message me your contact info. -Mike

As far as l know,l think it's already gone
I was in heavy talks with the owner on getting it crated up and shipped out here in time to finish it for the 2018 JK freeride in pismo. Last I heard the crate was being built and I was waiting on a shipping quote, but that was now over a month ago ☹️

Have motor, pump, electrics for it all freshly rebuilt just sitting on the floor of my room right now.

I would be too, I hope I can still get it. I have another hull for all these parts to go into but honestly I feel like this one is a lot more deserving of being finished
I talked to him too, He said i could pick it up if the deal fell through with you and same story, haven't heard from him in over a month sadly...
