61x 701 Swap, Prop Suggestions

Hey all, I'm currently getting ready to swap the motor in my 90 superjet. I have a 61x/61x replacing the old trusty 650. I had a couple questions about prop selection with this setup. With the 61x setup I'll be running a Riva Red pipe, 650 carb rejected for the 701, ocean pro flame arrestor, and an ADA girdled head with 185cc compression. Currently the ski has a prop thats stamped Scat Trak 4 7 v. From what I've gathered this is one of their old school props. With my 701 setup, how will this prop perform? Should I go to a different prop pitch or will this Scat Trak provide good bottom end hit? It runs good on the 650 but it feels like it lacks the bottom end punch. Idk if that's because it's a 650 or if the prop isn't the best for the setup. Anyhow, any input would be appreciated in regards to prop selection when switching to the 701 with the mods above. Thanks!

It's a good prop For that motor but you will feel a good improvement in hook up and bottom end punch. From a hooker 9-15. It's because of the large hub design. And it's just a newer design.

Hmm alright. Sounds like hooker 9/15 it is. How significant a difference would it be between these two props? Also, sorry if I missed it when searching, but is there a good faq or props 101 anywhere? Ide like to learn more about them and the differences between them.

I've been doing some searching and found some threads where people said that the 08+ SJ prop is very similar to the Hooker 9/15. Has anyone had any experience between the two? Would the 08+ be an upgrade over the Skat Trak 14/17 I am currently running? If I could save a few bucks and get very similar performance I may go that route instead.

I think the hooker is cut back a little more than a stock prop. This allows better hook up. We ran them both but in different set ups I preferred the hooker over the 08+. Maybe you could have an 08+ cut back some and it you have the same performance I don't know.

Gotcha. I appreciate the information and first hand experience. I'll probably go with the hooker then if it's a definite upgrade over the 08.

The old 14/17 is too much load for good low speed response plus it won't prime as fast as large hub impellers. A Hooker 9/ 15 will perform much better below 30mph.

Thanks for the info. Any idea what these old props are worth. It's in good shape, just wondering if it's worth selling to put towards a hooker.
