Someone else had cut the stator harness at some point... The connections were all corroded so I redid them and put heat shrink on each one. I just didn’t have any heat shrink large enough to cover all the wires.

Should I be worried about this?

If you are going to ride in saltwater...yes. There's probably no reason to pull it apart until you test it, but bring a rope (and a buddy).

Fair point. This stator actually gave me trouble in the surf before when it was in my SN. I wasn’t sure what it was at the time... but yes I got a tow rope package from JM so I will have that on me at all times

The connections need to be 100% sealed from each other and from the saltwater or you will be in trouble.

Best is to replace the stator with intact harness. Otherwise connections should be soldered, then long heat shrink with glue on each. Some use ‘waterproof’ connectors.
