Super Jet 61X no top end power..

My buddy purchased a super jet but it was in pieces, aka it came with an engine and some electronics and some every part we need to put it together but who knows where they all originated from. SO we pulled everything down, inspected the cases, crank, rods, pistons blah blah.. cleaned an reassembled. Reeds are perfect, engine makes 150 in both cylinders, brand new Factory B pipe, rebuilt the sbn44 with 26 psi pop off, 2.0 needle and seat 145 main and i forgot the pilot but we did it to factory pipes specs and my buddies known running skis specs which were factory pipes. The ski absolutely pulls like a monster out of the bottom, but its like 1/3 to maybe 1/2 and above it falls on its face and can or will cut off. If i let off fast enough it will pick back up, If i stay in it, it will cut off. But i can start it easy and quick enough to never fall off the ski, played with the adjusters and nothing seems to change. The high side never really ever changed, from closed to 2.5 turns was minimal notice of the performance. Took it home, carb is still clean and perfect, screen is clean, all brand new fuel lnes, re inspected reeds all is well. Changed cdi with my stock 650 superset for poops and giggles didn't change poopty top performance, changed with two ignition coils, nothing changed, even changed stator from my 650 over. Not changes. Fuel tank has brand new vent valve and lines.tried a different svn 44 nothing changed, re checked compression, still around 150 in both. The engine starts so easy and flawless no primer or throttle. we have literally changed or tried everything i am all out of things to try. I have 8 jet skis and have twin sudco race carb engines to big single carbs to stock skis. I have never been beat by an engine until now, none of my friends or i can figure it out. The only thing we have not tried was to add a high flow fuel pump. But this shouldn't be needed on a stock engine with just exhaust? i forgot tried unhooking the over heat sensor and re hooking to make sure that was not messing with the cdi. Forgot to add the highest we see rpms on the trailer is a random spurt to about 5400-5800

I had a somewhat similar top end issue that ended up being a bad (new) fuel filter. I am guessing you tried this already, but since you didn’t mention it, try running without the fuel filter.

Thanks, there actually is no fuel filter. Running straight lines from tank to carb.

Maybe double check orientation of fuel vent check valve (arrow points at tank), make sure it's not stuck closed?

Fuel pickup tube?

Plug wires?

No exhaust leaks,Tried several ignition coil/wire sets. Ohm everything before using

Fuel pick up tube was fine

And check valve was good even tried several of them.

I'm no guru, just tossin' thoughts...

Fuel return clogged in carb? Don't know exactly how you could check aside from putting a gauge on return line to see what fuel circuit is doing?

Did you leak test the motor?

+1 on leak test. Has the ski ever ran well? Also when it cuts out, do you mean it dies? Sounds like it's starving for fuel or you have water intrusion issues.

Had great talk with jet maniac this morning, he told me to unplug my killswitch (in the ebox) and take it for a rip and see how the ski runs. WELP IT RIPPED!!! Apparently my issue well one of two issue was a known bad coil but we knocked that out first day. Then there is a issue with the killswitch or killswitch harness. Runs damn great with no kill switch hooked up haha. Thanks for all the input!!!!
