FX-1 61x-scream

Just an experiment gone well........I wanted more power for my orange FX since putting an SS865 in my Frankenstein FX, but wanted something simple....so I built up an SS865 on a set of 61x cases and I'm running a Wetjet intake with a stock 46mm carb.

This thing runs so sweet! It's absolutely the smoothest engine I've had (with the exception of the Kawi 900 triple) and the response is super crisp. I haven't even touched the carb yet since the initial settings. I have a standard SS865 (62T cases, dual 46 carbs, boyessen intake) in my other ski and they're so close it's hard to tell the difference. In fact, some who rode it felt it was more responsive. Real optimistic about this package and thought I'd share.....

Figured they had to be opened up a bit to flow more cfm for the bigger top end.

Yes, epoxied front cover area, as well as the valleys above the intake area. I did grind through to epoxy in a couple spots. I thought I took pics of case porting but I can't seem to find them. If I do, I'll post'em.

People always bag on 61x cases, my 61x stroker is a blast. Love it.

A 61X will still make good power but it still is not as good as a 62T. When properly tuned, more airflow = more power.

Normally I would completely agree. TC ran a big single carb motor and was great. Here is something that rips. I rode the Frankie FX and Bad FishFX and te 61x motor pulls harder as of now. Both epics have not been completely tuned (correct me if I'm wrong JD). I think this is an awesome power plant and foam at the mouth to ride it

So far, it is running the standard X-Scream mild curve in the EPIC. I think I'll be going for something even milder to keep it alive on those long WFO runs we do though.
