Nope, just screw them in.
We like red loctite on the inserts. Let it dry before installing manifold.
Nope, just screw them in.
Unfortunately the FPP 62T manifold is just a very sloppily drilled and cut 61X manifold.
They usually come in packs of 12 and you may want to put 2 in each hole. There is a tool to thread them in with that comes with it. I just did it and it has held tight.
Helicoil inserts are usually available in 3 different lenghts: short, std. and long. How do you put two in? isent there that bar that blocks it?
Well you should use a 62T gasket , lay it on the 61X mani, mark it and then grind it to match the gasket. I would not drill the holes larger but install 8mm helicoil inserts into the (larger) 62T holes. You could " glue the gasket to the manifold with a gasket cement such as Permatex High Tack. Alternately you could use the larger 10mm screws after drilling the holes in the manifold larger, but leave the two top inside ones 8mm (install 2 inserts) or source 2 10mm Yamaha capscrews with a 12 mm size head. Yes, Yamaha has them (don't know #)What gasket did you guys use to mate the 61x fpp mani to the 62t cyl? Any port matching need to be done to the gasket?
