So I bought a used midshaft for my B2. 64Y. Had a buddy chuck it up on his lathe so that we could clean it up and noticed a slight wobble. How true does the midshaft have to be? Is there run out tolerance?

Hey man, thanks for the reply.
We chucked it in the lathe, and ran up to max rpm (2000). At 400 you could see the threads slightly rise up and down. ( I thought the same as you had stated, that it’s suspended in rubber)
At 2000 rpms, placing your finger on the jump of the shaft (where the end of the coupler butts up to the last thread) through rotation a very slight “rise” was felt. Lead us to believe that the shaft was out of true, hence: looking for the specs on it.
That’s all I can tell you at this point.

Run out was 9 you thousandths on one 12 thousandths on another. So almost 50% difference between the 2
