650 engine help

Hey guys i recently picked up a 650sx motor for a swap. I was told the lower end was blueprinted. But it has a stock cylinder and head and the pistons hit the head. Both head and base gaskets are really thin almost like copper gaskets. Im wondering if i can get any thicker head and base gaskets and maybe that would work. Does any have any ideas?

Definitely check the crank but yes you can get thicker gaskets. A stock head gasket is 2 or 3 times thicker than most copper gaskets. Thinner gaskets was a cheap way of increasing compression but go too thin and the piston will hit the head especially at high rpms.

Heres what ive got guys, hopefully someone can help me figure out what i have. One rod is a 3701 and the other is a mk200. The case has some custom welding around the reeds. Also the cases inside have had some grinding on them. I have no idea what i have?

Looks like a stroker crank. I can see the pistons stick out of the bore so i would guess its a stroked crank.

You will need to send it to a builder to know for sure. Strokers are a little more complex when it comes to port timing.

If you put a spacer in it it may not run right depending on the port timing. It could throw everything off.

Stock head gasket should be a stainless head shim, coppers are thicker and most aftermarket kits come with a fiber that's thicker yet. Make sure newmiller wants to do it with a shim, some guys just cut the domes for piston clearance to keep the timing down.
