650 pump in a 550sx

The wear ring on my 550 was trashed and I couldn't find any replacements so I decided to make my life complicated by glassing in a 650 pump, I didn't go the normal route of glassing in the whole 650 pump tunnel I decided to just to make it fit into the stock tunnel, which would have been a better idea if I have ever used fiberglass or carbon fiber before. I'm really just looking for ideas on what weight of glass to use and what kind as well as what kind of filler to use, and any general advice is greatly appreciated and needed.2015-08-30 20.42.51.jpg
I have to modify the tray to allow the new pump to bolt up and i'm just going to glass up to the new pump shoe piece as it sticks out probably a 1/4-1/2" off the bottom the hull right now. Also any advice on how to remove the steering cable would be a great help too.

Can you open your tray and do cooling and controls that way. Then you can do a wide tray with holds at the same time. I reused the fittings from my x2 with pvc tubes for my control. I did it through the top deck. You can also solve your problem of the pump hanging below the hull, although if rhass is selling a kit then he must not consider that an issue. It will also make it easier to put in new hull insets for the intake grate if thats necessary.

yeah I've been considering it I've already ordered $150 in just glass and materials and don't know if I want to put any more into a 550 I wish the rhaas kit was already on sale

I will update the thread I just have been busy with school, and the shoe makes it look more off than it is if you look at the line I drew it shows how the shoe sticks past the body of he pump, the line isn't exact but the shaft is less than 1/4 out of place image.jpeg

First off you will be very pleased doing the 140 pump conversion. Install a 750/800 engine and the 550 jet ski becomes a very fun free ride machine. A lot of people will do the 750/800 conversion with out the 140 pump figuring a more powerful engine will make a 550 fun, and they find out how disappointing it is. The 550 pump just can't push any more thrust than what it was designed for. With that being said, here's some pics of my personal free ride sleeper. Hope this helps you with your project. Pm me if you have any questions.
