Why did you leave the foam out?? Doesnt that add strength to the bottom of the hull??
It does but I just added strengh with the fiberglass. The foam on these things always gets wet and adds weight so by taking it out you are taking off some weight in the back of the ski.

would you put ny other foam back in or just fiberglass a layer and let it be? Im thinking about doing this on my 750 sx but was concerned about the foot tray. Maybe ill pour some foam down the center only??
Good work on the ski btw, looks good!!

I dont think it was as strong as it was before with the foam but it is strong enough I think. You could foam just the bottom like you said. I just dont like the idea of doing all the work tearing it apart to defoam and refoam it and then the foam gets wet and heavy in a year or two. With you having a 750sx you should be trying to cut as much weight out as you can.

took the ski out for the first test ride. Has really good power for a 650. I would say around a single carb 701 with a pipe power. I have to go back a patch up a leak in the tray where I fiberglassed it back together. Leaked 10 gals of water into the try while I was out there riding for a few hours. Didnt even notice till I went to put theh ski in the truck and it felt like it was 500 lbs. Once i get this fixed and try it again I hope the ski will feel a lot lighter and pop out of the water good.
