650SC bogging problem

man I ask a lot of questions on here so sorry about that. but thank you for all your help, ok here is the question. my ski. when its out of the water. startes up fine revs beautiful but when in the water, idles fine but when giving a little throttle it will bog and just put, like Mph. what could this be. it was giving a lot of smoke when in water too but out of water. it does great. any idea? thank you

sounds like its time to open up the carb and see whats up with it.

if you can get your hands on a mikuni super bn and manifold, youll have a lot lessissues with carburetion.

otherwise, make sure your fuel pickups, in the tank, are in tact. and make sure all of your fuel lines and on/res valve are unobstructed.

do you find that it runs better if partially choked?

no, the old carb was ********, so I put another one on that didnt have a choke, so I installed a prime kit on it. the old carb was shot and the new one was all stock with good gaskets, fuel pump diaphram, all that stuff, is it possible that a exhuast leak will do it, it runs fine out of the water but in the water it sucks ass, right when you hit the throttle it will take off for a second than blaaaaah bog and pute around. open the hood and exhuast smoke comes out. so maybe exhaust leak doing it?

If you open the hood and smoke comes out theres your problem, you cannot have even the slightest amount of an exhaust leak or fuel leak into the hull.It will run just like you are running with the choke on.Once the exhaust contaminates the air inside the hull it chokes it out .Find you exhaust leak and fix it and it will run properly,I would start at the rubber connector where the exhaust pipe goes into the water box, those clamps work loose over time and create a leak there.

bam, dead on, there it was. the rubber connecter to the water box was almost completly off. I took it out and re-installed and made sure it was all in there. and Im going to try it again this week. thank you
