650sx laynard help

Hey guys i have a 650sx for my girlfriend and she wants to try and ride, but before i let her ride it i want to put a lanyard kill switch on the ski. Im not very good with electrical, but In my understanding i could bolt on a 550 face (top part) w/ a lanyard switch to the bottom part of the stock 650 assembly. Wanted to get opinions first. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

You either need a 650ts lanyard face plate, or a 550 faceplate and bottom switch portion.

As said above, the bolt-on solution is a 650ts lanyard faceplate to attach to your 650sx switch.

The 550sx switch and lanyard faceplate will have to be spliced in to your current wiring.

Good idea with the lanyard before she rides it!

You could for the time being kill the idle on it as well. But yeah the wiring part is easy its only 4 wires. The TS faceplates can be hard to find sometimes and everyone thinks they are made of gold (cause they are)

No electrical. Just buy the right face plate and it's 2 screws.

Nice graphic.

This is the only one I could find unfortunately. Highway robbery.

They are discontinued so they are expensive. Rad dudes @Twinturbostang carried the faceplate for about $50-60 for a while, maybe they still have them.

I was talking to @OCD Solutions about making a jumper kit to plug a yamaha switch into a Kawi ebox w/ no need to wire anything (or just change bullet connectors). I'm not sure if he made a kit but I do know he was shopping out the pieces to put something together.

Also, @JetManiac sells yamaha OEM plug ends you can splice onto the end of the ebox (I'm not sure if he has Kawi ends to splice onto the switch).

For $100, I'd try to switch over to a yamaha switch.

You could also look for a 650ts local used for parts, take what you need and sell the rest.

Stay away from the SXR switch. The faceplate just clips on an can pop off. My SXR came off but fortunately it was still attached to the lanyard so I put it back on. My buddy has a SXR switch on his X2 and now has no faceplate for the same reason.

I'm personally a fan of the Yamaha switch, but I do have the 650ts lanyard on my 750x2.
