Just an FYI for everybody.....I love riding my 650sx! But after the wife's Superjet is finished I'll probably throw custom paint on my Tigersaki.

You should paint it white , you don't want your composites to overheat , plus if you fly too close to the sun your wings will melt. .

Primed it this morning with Dynacoat high build primer, 4 hr dry time at 70 Fahrenheit , 70 minutes at 120 Fahrenheit , its been running over 100 degrees here so I gave it about three hrs drying time then sanded it with 400 grit and sprayed it with white Kirker single stage polyurethane, I have on small run on the very back of the ski , no biggie I am going to give it a few days drying time in the sun then I will scuff and buff that spot , this is why I love urethane unless you are spraying metallic you really can't mess it up , I will most likely reinstall the pump , intake grate and ride plate tomorrow.

That first pic was taken in the shade so those are shadows , the second pic was a few minutes ago.

It's not perfect but chances are good it will never be upside down again and chances are even better that he will screw up my hard work. The last ski I spend about a week filling scratches and repainting the bottom on the customer ran it up on the rocks on the test ride, yes she bought the ski..

I changed the name of the thread to better reflect what I am doing here, not a lot of progress but I finished up an Aluminum stand to put it on, flipped it over sanded the run out (it was very minor ) cleaned the engine bay and started reassembly, Waterbox is back in, motor mounts installed pump inserts reinstalled, I am working on the steering cable next.

I included the pics of the side tray pads so you can get a feel of how this build started out, rough and tough. These are cracked to hell abd back . I am going to glass over them front and back with surfboard cloth , way too much time and money invested in this ski already , it's a damn good thing I like doing this stuff , I would hate to see the bill if I didn't.

I laid down three coats , shiny , shiny and no runs, I would have sprayed more but I only had two beers in the fridge, but that's ok the old lady is driving me to the store to remedy that situation.

Truefully three coats is about as much as I ever spray but the beer thing yeah that's for real.

I got a 650sx. On a trailer with a waverunner 650. 2 unkillable skis that are perfect for newbies. I loan em out all the time for beer to buddies. I enjoy seeing people fix up the old skis back to original or slightly better. It's like how it went with toyotas. It used to be cool to see a super built crawler all done up. But now it's way cooler to see a stock one somebody brought back to original.

Graphics are on ., the Jettrim mats are next on the hit list. the hull graphics are all laid down smooth.

The hood graphics are just taped on to another 650SX hood, I haven't started the hood on this one yet.

You have to know where the hood graphics are going to put the front graphics on the hull with this particular kit, it all has to line up.

You also have to temporarily install the side bumpers for the same reason.

Mats are all done and came out pretty well , I still have some glue cleanup to do. While I had the DAP weldwood and a brush out I cleaned up all the stock pads and tank supports and glued them back down, it is now ready for the new fuel filler neck to be installed and yes it still has the stock gas cap.

I had to cut those pieces off the back of the bottom mat and grind the lip off the front of the rear bumper to get it to fit correctly, the bumpers are going to have to be painted they look like ass.

One word of caution, be careful where you buy your contact cement at, I have run across some at smaller stores which have a lower turnover rate that has separated, it's not an issue as long as you mix it up thoroughly before you use it, if it is anything buy snot yellow get to mixing or buy a new can.

Dropped of one 650SX at the lake and picked up his other one, apparently it's 650SX season here, for some reason these things usually come in threes, first three GPR 800s back to back, now three 650SX's back to back..

Bonus pic is of an Elmoron in his natural habitat at the ATM in Wetumpka, AL , See if you can spot the Elmoron in that picture , you probably will need to blow up the picture but you will know when you see it. .

I see 2 :) one facing the wrong direction and the other running around without a tailgate :) You see, tailgates prevent things from flying out if they're going to be left loose in the back, but also, tailgates are part of the box structure and help keep it all together. If you've ever seen a truck box where the sides are starting to flare away from straight up and down, that's because they've either been running around without a tailgate for a while or they never close it :)

Honestly I didn't even give the guy with no tailgate a second thought, that's such a common occurrence around here, but come to think about it most of the coolers I have were picked up only a few miles up the road from there, three still had ice and beer in them , so yeah that happens around here a lot, the guy pulled backwards in the ATM held up the line so long the second truck pulled off and went somewhere else, the guy just pulls out backwards through the line like it's ok folks, nothing to see here just Elmorons being Elmorons, BTW rednecks from Elmore county AL are called Elmorons just so you know.
