SX/SXi/SXi Pro 650sx Suggestions

Location

I'm new to this site and jet skis in general. I may be buying a 650sx from a guy who rebuilds and sells jet skis as a job. I'm guessing it will run pretty well since hes just finishing up today and I am going to look at it tomorrow. I don't know what parts were on it, but I saw a WORX racing sticker, if that means anything. I will probably not be doing huge jumps or flips, but maybe some jumping subs and power subs. Any suggestions on what i might need if I need anything at all? I'm mainly just worried about water getting in the ski and if it does, will it come out as I ride and/or cause major problems?

seriously, hold out for a superjet
even a 650 squarenose if far superior to a 650sx
bilge pump keeps the water out

Now that I have actually read you post... yes, the 650 has a little vacume style bilge pump in it but you should put an electric bilg in it. how much are you getting the ski for is the big thing here.

Dont buy a 650sx because you dont have the $ for a superjet. Better of saving a little longer to get the SJ. You will be happy you waited for a superjet when you compare one to a 650sx.

650SX's are a fairly good ski to just go ride and have some fun. They're not very saught after, because 750's, and Superjets are worlds better at everything. At least the 650's aren't dropping in price, so you'll be able to sell it for $700 next year.

By reasonably priced, I meant anything below $6,000 for a 2000 superjet. Maybe id I get really into the sport, ill save up for that.

if you want to get into the sport the 650 ok it was my first ski but i picked mine for $100 with a broken pole. If it gets you riding what ever but i wouldnt spend any money on the ski for mods. but i wish i got a superjet instead of my 750

see what happens?
you start out on a 650sx, then go to 750sx and are full of regrets
dont let this happen to you!
dont go down that road
buy a yamaha!!!

I bought an89 kawi 650 a couple months ago and have had nothing but issues with it. havent even had a full day of riding without having to quite because of it. I have more money into the ski trying to fix it and have no fun. now I am trying to get it running good to try to sell and by a square nose superjet.
All the kawi is going to do is get you really hooked on the sport and deny you any ride. Its basicaly gonna give you blue balls for your ski.

Contition is the most important aspect of old skis. Problem with old skis is that they are pretty much all junk condition wise. The only good/old ski is one that was never owned or operated by a typical jetskier. Stock Superjets are not fit for riding without a pipe, prop, grate, and port work. Thats an easy $1500- $2000 plus replacing that rusty crankshaft. There is no way to get a decent ski for less than $3500 without getting lucky.

650sx are the :):):):). And if you don't want to be flipping the thing, then it'll do you fine. 650's are cheap, if you want a superjet, just buy it later. It's just a part of a paycheck more you have to wait.

I have two friends who have ridden 650sx's for years. one mostly stock and one with the usual bolt ons. they have both been pretty reliable, and I think, fairly fun to ride.

Welcome to the X. To be honest:
I started on a 650sx then went to a 750sx then put a yamaha motor in it, then went to a Superjet.
I would save up for the Superjet, but if you do buy the 650sx then its an ok ski to learn on but like mentioned I wouldnt put any money into it!
