Haven't ridden the 300, that's why it's not on my list.
Dennis just bought one, they are actually fun in a gutless sort of way. You just pin the throttle and hold it the whole time you ride, if you let off your screwed. Nathan was doing fountains about 10 feet.:cheer:

You pretty much gotta do that with a stock 650 Square as well :sorry:

It's not life altering if I don't know, lets call it a curiosity. Every improvement you see is because someone wondered why something is the way it is and then wondered how they could make it better.

I like to wonder. Sometimes I get good ideas.
:chairshot: you've bee invited out many times. come ride with us and you can ride my superjet or any of the other guys and you'll see why it's so much better.

Talk to tom21. he's got 2 650sx's. he can give you a better point of reference than me.

aslo, upgrading a kawi motor isn't the same as having a yami motor. the kawi's are designed to make top end power and yamaha is designed to make low end power with there porting. displacement, head and pipe wont give you better porting.

I don't think so, not even close. Stock 650's are decently fun to ride.

I'm pretty dissapointed with the low end. It may just be that I am use to my ported/piped/ADA headed 701.

I suppose if hadn't ridden mine first, the 650 may have seemed a little more fun.

I guess I set myself up for the dissapointment

I appreciate all of the info. I guess I should have mentioned I have an 89 650sx now. I got to ride a 2000 rn sj tonight and I def. noticed the "unstable" feel in the hull but I liked it the more I rode the ski. Granted it has the 701 in it, but from what I have read the yamaha 650 has a lot more low end than the kawi 650. I just hope everything goes through with the SN i found and I can sell my 650sx.

I am going to come out but I don't have a ski to ride once I'm there. 5 min test ride than drink a Dew and go home. =(

I'm off friday and sunday this week. I'll come out if you all are riding a reasonable drive from me.

I talked to Tom. That slacker isn't fixing his ski fast enough! He's like me. =)

get in the duck pond thread and ask if you can try out a ski next time some people get together. I'm sure people will let you try out their ski's. we alsways ride dunedin causeway, not sure if that's a reasonable drive for you.

That's an hour away for me. I'll come sometime. A few people already said I could test ride a SJ. It's just that my ski is broke and I'd like to ride all day with you, not just a few mins to try out a super jet. Even if someone said I could ride their ski longer than just checking it out, I'd decline, I have this thig about it not being ok to abuse other peoples things.

I'll keep an eye on the duck pond though. Parting out my stuff so I'll have money to buy something soon I hope.

we might be able to get you on a sj for a little cheaper. Tom has a square hull he might sell and i've got a 650 motor I'd sell for cheap.

I think Tom said he didn't have any SJs.

Anyway, I'm down for that. I'd like to put my own ski together. Sounds like a fun project. Let me know what you guys come up with and I'll see what I can afford. I thought about buying a SN hull when I get the $$ and playing with it. Then dropping a 650 or 701 in it as I gather more $$ from my parts. I wish I could get a RN with a 701 but I'm doing clinicals for school instead of working. No $$ income. =(

Ready to drop in, pipe carbs? How much?

I need a hull unless it's a very fast engine and can plane w/o a hull. =)

Safe to assume I can't drop a yamaha engine into a kawi hull? That'd work temporarly. =X

I would have to say the 300sx is more fun and handles way better than the 650sx,especially with a larger engine installed. As far as reliability goes I would say the 650 vs 650 issue is mute, they are both reliable, the 650sx just handles like crap and the hull bulges out in all the wrong places for a freestyle ski,its a good beginner ski because its easy to ride other than that there is nothing great or wonderful about it.

I think it is easier for someone who has never ridden one before to ride, the 750 even more so,big, stable,no real powerband.
