66e exhaust pipe? HX pipe with adapter?

I posted this on pwctoday also but will probably have more luck here..

So I jumped into this whole Blaster 800pv conversion assuming that a WDK pipe would come around sooner than later. well one did and I missed out on it. now the season is here and I want to ride.

with John @ jet ski haven making that adapter. it gave me an idea.

I have a HX factory pipe at home that I was thinking I could make an adapter for the seadoo bolt pattern then bolt it up

the manifold faces forward l then I could make brackets to have the chamber perpendicular to the motor. with a gp760 water box in the back.

would the pipe work on this motor at all?

the 717 motor bore is 2mm larger and the stroke of the 717 is 10mm shorter though

That is a big pipe. Sits up pretty high. But give it a shot. Or better yet, look into a coffmans 951 pipe. Those have been used in the 951 conversions. Would have to get creative on the exhaust routing to the waterbox and back.

It seems to me the giant adapter plate he made would cause some problems with tuning (exhaust running to long before entering the chamber). And the adapter between the manifold and pipe would compound the issue. I don't know much about pipe design but his setup looks like it would kill a lot of low end power.

ya i have the water injection to go with it hopefully i can get it set up properly.

johns adapter is alot thicker than what I was thinking about. I was thinking a little thinner along the lines for the ATS one they had with a type 4.

Im not sure on the exhaust gases thats why I'm asking I guess

Ill just use this until a WDK pipe pops up again

I know it is a long shot but calling WDK and seeing if he ever casted up some B pipe manifolds may be worth at least the time to pick up the phone.

I'd be very careful with the FP 720. It was a very exact pipe on a 720. The stinger diameter was on the limit and it would cause the rear cylinder to over heat and stick if you didn't have your engine package set up right.

Another thing I started but finishing it, well I have no time right now.

Maybe, but wasn't this about it fitting in a Blaster? It looks like I'll have some time this summer, I think I could do another, You buy a type9 pipe.

it was more about what people think about using the 720FP on the 800pv motor and no it seems like there is mixed opinions. I dont want to blow my motor. would rather pick up a WDK pipe obviously

Before using a HX pipe, I'd try a SD800 pipe. Something like a Coffmans rec pipe would be the easiest to fit, if you mount the motor upright. A stock SD rfi pipe would be another option, since it keeps the exhause on one side of the engine and might let you keep the stock waterbox location. I have a cheap FPP spec1 if you want to try that.

the problem that I think I would encounter with that is that the manifold comes up instead of forward so most likely it would hit the sit of the hull like the stock 66e pipe
