6m6 cylinders on 61x cases

well i blew my top end yesturday on my done up 61x motor. it was stock porting and bored to a 733cc. i have a couple 6m6 motors lieing around so im gonna throw on a stock set of 6m6 cylinders. it should be a very easy swap. all i gotta do it change the domes on my head and thats it correct? i know it wont have nearly as much balls and the top speed will go down but it should still be a kind of fun ride for the rest of the summer. anyone ride with this setup?

I've rode a Rn with a 6m6 650 motor once cuz the guy blew up his 701. It actually wasn't as dogish as i would think.

Sorry i have no info on ur swap. :hitwithrock:

haha thanks. my ski used to be a complete 650 which rode alright so i know it will have to be better then that with the bigger cases plus all the other mods i have. but the small bore and crappy porting worry me.

yes, for some reason it needed an insane amount of fuel. with my setup people had a 120-130 pilot and 150 main. i got my pilot tuned way above 130. i just drilled it out cause 130 was to small. and it blew while going full throttle with a drilled out 160!! also the ring snagged the port and chipped the piston so a little bit of both caused it

It sounds like you may have had other problems if you had to jet that rich. Maybe an air leak/bad seal.

The 6m6 cylinders will bolt right on, but I'd suggest using the stock 6m6 head, instead of using the 701 domes.

thats what i thought but ive been through my carb a million times and all the fuel lines, everything. i did and air leak test and the were none. but i bolted on the 6m6 cylinders today and it fired right up. i did swap the domes dont worry. compression is stock though so ill definintly be missing out on the power i used to have :(

well i got it all tuned and im actually happy with this setup. i didnt lose to much power and its still pretty snappy. the top speed isnt as great but its still good enough for a standup. the top speed definitly seems faster then an entire 6m6 motor cause of the bigger 61x cases. with the crappy porting, much smaller bore and with 20psi less compression im suprized its still this much fun. and its more reliable!!!
