Bought my first SJ in January thinking it only needed a carb rebuild and paint. Got it home and slowly realized it needed a full rebuild. I just started painting it after re-foaming, installing foot holds, and reinforcing engine bay cracks.
I just dug into the engine and carbs and I need some help identifying parts.
So far I have figured out it has the following:
Protec Grate and Ride Plate
Solas Supra YB-SC-B Impeller
Protec DBP Pipe, I believe its their A-pipe
Protec dual carb adapter with BN 38 round pumps
The two things I'm currently struggling with is identifying the cylinders and head. The cylinders seem to be cnc ported and are engraved PRO III. Just trying to figure out what I have, they look good. They do measure standard 6m6 bore.
The head is either modified or an aftermarket piece. The one cylinder is pitted bad enough I would prefer to not run it so the goal is to identify it and find a good replacement. I cc'd the head and it came out to be about 23ccs but my test method was not very accurate, I was only looking for a ball park.
I got it to blow 165/155 dry and with a little oil since the one cylinder was super dry it blew 180 and 185. I have since learned i had a cracked reed in the low cylinder.
I just found out that the crank bearings are shot in the cracked reed cylinder, so now I need a crank too.
