701 Case studs?

Hello, Im looking for studs for my 701 62t case and could not find another thread talking about them so I figured to throw one on here for others to use too. I bought the case a little while ago and realized all the threads had already been helicoiled and one or two of them were stripped so I asked my friend about it and he said to get studs for it to make everything easier. I dont know much about studs but what will I have to throw on? Is there another alternative? Thanks! (Ps: I can post pictures if necessary)

Since they didn't come with studs and they don't make studs for it you will be on your own sourcing some from another application. You could buy threaded rod and cut it to make your own studs but You would be better off buying a used set of cases that have good threads.

They make studs for Yamaha cylinders, aftermarket cylinders use them.

But they won't be the correct length for a stock cylinder will they? If you know of a source for studs for a stock cylinder I believe the op would appreciate you directing him to them.

This is a good question for @JetManiac

The last set I bought was from R&D but they have closed.

I have a set that came with my riva head but I am sure they are no longer available. I also have threaded stainless rod that could easily be cut to make studs the correct lengths. Fairly cheap and simple if you have the ability to do so.

A bit more research shows that I actually ordered them from ProTec who appears to still be in business. You have to call them though, I don't think they are on the website.

If the cylinder threads aren’t good enough for bolts then how are studs going to work?
On the flip flop, if the threads are good enough for studs why not just use bolts like everyone else?

If your talking about cylinder to cases they make girdle kits which are long studs that go up to aftermarket heads to clamp the cylinder down but again you have to have good threads in the cases.

This is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Use cylinder bolts or install a girdle kit when you upgrade your head. If threads are damaged, then helicoil them. As mikidymac said above, you need good threads either way.

Would studs work with helicoiled threads that are only a little bit stripped? The other 5 threads are also helicoiled but are all good
