701 Head on 650 Cylinder

This is going in my WaveRaider and the only reason I am running the 701 head is so I can keep my 701 exhasut. Is the 701 dome size compatible with the 650? If yes which gasket should I use? Will my compression be decreased?

Your compression will be way lower with the 701 head. Whichever gasket you use make sure the coolant passage holes line up with the ones in the head.

it will "work" but as mentioned your compression will be lower. the dome size is larger on the 701 because of the larger bore size.

I'm pretty sure the 62T heads have different exhaust mounts than the 6M6 and that's why he's going this route.

I've got a handful of 650 heads. I am doing this so I can keep my Raider 701 exhaust. What is the consequence of larger dome sizes?

less power. if your just throwin somthing together to make it work id run it, but if your building it to be powerful id get a 701 topend instead. try it let us know

The dome size between the 650 and 701 are nearly the same, the 650s exhaust port is lower creating equal trapped volume. I would find a 650 head/gasket or a 64u head from a newer 701 with a 62T gasket.

I have both a 650 head and a 650 gasket. I also have a 701 head and a 701 gasket. My conondrum is how would I mount my exhaust with a 650 head? (Its not compatible to my pipe!)

then bolt on the 701 head. i really cant see any problems with it...maybe bit less compression. not like it wont run or anything.
