701 Limited Chamber on a 650 Kawasaki?

The 650 kawi motor that came in my X2 has a West Coast intake with a single 44mikuni. It has a West Coast exhaust manifold to a factory B-pipe Elbow to what looks like a 2 piece Facotory chamber (never seen one before).

It would be easy for me to put the 701 chamber and route it to my X-metal waterbox with front exhaust. Just not sure if it might be to much chamber for the little 650?

Its gona have a Kart tank, so Im not worried about fitment of the Tank.

I have never seen one of those two piece pipes in person. But I have some pictueres I have saved from eBay or the forums over the years.

I snagged a super clean, brand new FPP for a 650 Kaw last year off of eBay. I got the whole pipe and a 750 dry pipe manifold for 260 shipped. I would have kept everything except the head pipe was only a two screw one and they packages the chamber crappy and it got scratched. I solf it and doubled what I paid for it. So I got my money back and then some :)

My point is though, the pipe was definetly a FPP and had Factory Pipe engraved onto the head pipe. There wasn't that cast in square pad spot where they engrave head pipes though. It was just engraved right onto the head pipe. However it came in a Mariner box and the instructions were for a Mariner "Cast Exhaust Pipe." Pretty vintage stuff. But it was the whole one piece chamber, not the two piece design. I asked the lady at FPP once and she once told me they never made a two piece pipe, another time she said it was their first design. She has been wishy washy with me before in the past. Also I remember them using mariner manifolds with the first 750 mod pipes.

You may beable to have the chamber welded together. I have some pics at home where I compared a 650 Kaw chamber to a SJ mod chamber I can post. I show them being measured with a tape measure too.

I say run whatever chamber works best. If you are going to use a kart tank then got for the SJ mod chamber.

Well Im gona use a kart tank, but I only have a limited chamber, and the two piece kaw.... Im gona try out the limited chamber first. I know i could weld up the 2 peice if I wanted too, but I am hoping it runs good with the larger chamber.

The elbow I have with the ski has the newer style flat plate that is engraved, but as I said it goes to a west coast manifold, not fpp.

The manifold don't matter that much. The three bolt head pipe pattern is original 650 Kawasaki stock. FPP just used that bolt pattern for all the head pipes they used from then on out. So on Yamaha's they had to make their own exhaust manifolds.

Most people prefer the WC manifold because the top is solid and you can bore it out more. I have both a WC and a FPP. The FPP are really rare to find. In my opinion, if you are not boring out the exhaust manifold there isn't much difference over a stock Kawasaki 650 exhaust manifold.

Those differences are 1) dual cooling threaded spots for water fittings 2) the exhaust diviter/ramp between the two cylinders is better (older first gen kawie manifolds didn't have a diverter what so ever.

So really you are all set to run what you got, let us know how the limited chamber works.

One final note on the chambers, my 650 FPP chamber had a smaller stinger ID. The SJ mod chamber I have is larger.

I noticed the slightly larger stinger also, but that wont be a problem running into my x-metal box with front only exhaust that I will pull from my SJ when the time comes for testing.

With this setup I will be moving the exhaust outlet to the very nose, so I wont have air bubbles air-ating the chine on left turns as bad. (that is the idea anyways)
