Blaster 701 or go 760

Redoing the top ends on my 1994 'Blasters and kinda thinking about changing motors out and going to a 62t bottom-61X top sleeved to a 760. Both have Coffman Lightning pipes and SBN 44. Should I get the 61X cylinders ported or go 760?
 
i don't really know anything about the coffman pipe. but i would go big first. is money an issue? lol i know riva charges almost 800 to port cylinders. i have ported cylinders and they hit hard! real hard. almost like there is no happy mid range, it's either idling or balls to the walls. with the 760 cylinders i think you would have a nice smooth power band with torque. my next buy will be a big bore motor.

Porting will get you much more hit than slightly more displacement. I don't think Riva charges that much for porting - in fact, I've never heard of anyone charging more than $500 for porting an OEM cylinder.

The cheapest power you can get is putting a stock 62T cyl on your existing low end. Changing cases, carbs, and using a large bore 61X cylinder is expensive and best suited for freestyle standups.
 
Riva lists that high price on their website because it includes a new cylinder. If you contact them and speak to Bubba I believe, it's much cheaper. Some where in the 4 bills range.

you guys are right, though when i had mine done, the dollar was under the us dollar. also had to have mine shipped, and at the end it was almost 800 for me personally. riva used to list prices for porting but i just looked and they don't anymore, call for pricing. i like buying old squeaked cylinders, having them bored and ported with new pistons. anyone have some 61x or 62t cylinders for cheap?
 
I ended going 62T bottom ends and ported 61X top ends with Z-Force modded dual 38's on stock manifolds. Havent run them yet but should run better than stock 61X's that were in there. Oh yeah lightened flywheels and MSD enhancers
