Yeah it's a 46 blackjack. I got a single because I didn't know much then and thought they made more power.... Oops. What's nice is that there is half of the stuff going on so that's cool for tuning but like you guys are saying once it's set up, you never touch it again. As of right now the only advantage for me running a single is it's easier to take off...... Always something with my :):):):)ing carb. Close to throwing it at a wall. :D

And back the OP, if Your only in the surf once a month and you ride flatwater mostly, I would go with a fs-2 over a fr-2 since the fs is lighter. But I would rather get an xfs because your not gonna do much in the flats on a fs-2 with a 701. With the xfs your guaranteed a flat water flip with trim and a bone stock 701 off a boat wake.

You should contract that carb job out to a professional.

Btw, you seem to be doing just fine with your power level.

thanks its a tough decision im honestly thinking about getting the XFS putting all the 701 parts in it then slowly rebuilding the superjet back to stock so i have a XFS for flatwater and the SJ for waves

I will really be pissed off if a 350 usd carb + 150 usd intake mani, did not produce more power than tiny oem's... ART told me to set it up @ 2.5 N/S, 95 gr spring, 160 main, 130 pilot.. we will see soon enough...

ok guys im about to buy a rickter hull here soon. and will be putting the components from my superjet into that hull. i have been bouncing around ideas about how to get more power out of a stock 701 motor reliably (from 2000 Superjet). my first thought was to go with 760 cylinders and pistons and add a higher compression head and factory pipe. is this worth it? im not looking to spend $5k on a built motor so any help wuld be great

For 5K you can really get a nice motor. You can definitely get a higher compression head and a pipe, and if budget permits you can also get a mag pump or TBM pump set up for alot less. If you want a nice hard hitting motor you can always contact X-scream and they can put together a nice package for you.. If you only ride surf once a month, I would get an XFS because you can do a lot of tricks on limited power. I like your idea of building the SJ for surf. The FR-2 is a all around ski, you can ride in flat or surf out of the box, but cannot perform some of the tricks that the XFS can on limited power. If I have to make a choice I would go with the XFS with a nice motor like 771cc from X-Scream, once you get dailed in you can ride that ski anywhere including surf...

Exactly my thoughts - I was considering the FS-2, but if riding mostly flatwater the X-FS should do a much better job, even with a middle sized motor.

mine rips, ported by wamiltons..tons of power from top to bottom...more power than my buddies old ported 701 with a single novi 48

One of the strongest best feeling setups I ever felt was on a SJ setup up by wammer with 38's.. Same ski one the APBA Nationals in AM. Freestyle in 2009.

yea that motor is soo fun..id imagine with foothold u could flat water br it easliy...has allot of snap and pulls through the whole powerband...its good on gas and dosnt have any fancy parts on it...strictly buisness..

extreamly reliable...never done a thing to it until my girdle bolts came loose a few rides ago and ruined my base gasket...took it apart last night and its still looking fresh after holding it wide open 30hrs or so...
