My brother had his ski apart and painted and what not over the winter. Well he rebuilt the carbs and put a primer kit on. Now, on start up it just revs. We immediatly shut it off. My question is= When putting a primer kit on do you notice air in your lines at all when priming? It seems there are always air bubbles in the lines. The problem is we dont know if they keep coming or not since we cant have the ski running for to long. So, should we pull the carbs apart? Or is there a leak somewhere else since we can see air in the lines? Any help is appreciated.

If adjusting your idle adjustment screw isn't working then your throttle cable has been tightened too much.

Loosen it.

My guess would be is that you possibly have an air leak at the carb's base gasket. I always grease gaskets with bearing grease to get a good seal and so they come off easy next time.

same thing happened to me last week on my SJ. It revved all the way up and the kill switch didnt phase it. I pulled the boots off the spark plugs and that didnt even stop it. I had to take the fuel line out of the gas tank and wait for it to burn the gas out of the lines... turns out it just didnt have enough gas in the tank. fill it up at least 1/4 full. My friends told me all the previous things mentioned here, but i filled it up, turned down the idle screw and now it runs perfect. But i couldnt believe it was sitting there running with no wires connected to the plugs... luckily i had just bought and connected a flush kit... first time i ever started it with one of those. Wouldve surely burnt out the rings or ruined the engine if it hadnt been hooked to the water hose...

Back out the throttle plates until they close. Do they close? Could be a warn cable.

If they do close and it still races up, you have an air leak.
