Wanted to start a thread about aftermarket pipes. I can only seem to find west coast and NEW FP not any used. Wanted to see where you obtained your pipe from and how much you paid for it. And where I could get one.

Do yourself a favor and hold out for a FP limited. It is worth it. I paid 400 for a very nice limited, I got it a little cheaper since it came from a friend. Usually they are 400-550 depending on condition. watch the forums and keep an eye on ebay.

^ Keep an eye out and have the money ready to go to pick up the pipe you want, everyone says factory pipes are the best and I havent tried one but I would still agree from what I have heard/researched...you can tune factory pipes for whatever type of riding you want to do...I went with the R&D pipe because its a good mid-high range pipe and I got mine from my engine tuner so I got it for a good price..also I wanted to build my 750 with as many R&D parts as I could...my SJ will be getting a new factory B pipe though..

Motor work is only big money if you are afraid or unable to do the assembly work yourself. You can get cases and cylinders ported for about what you will drop on a used factory pipe, and less than you would drop on a new one or a new aluminum charging flywheel. Tim Z and Chris Newmiller both do excellent work and have very reasonable prices. Art Gomez of BlackJack (formerly jetworks) also does amazing work, but a little more pricey.

For more bottom end--Throw a factory limited pipe on there (it was my experience that the R&D increased bottom end very little if at all), have your reduction nozzle bored to 82mm, find a CDI out of a 96+ SXi or '03 SXR (skip the fixed timing advance), mill your stock head, find some dual SXR carbs or a single 44 or 46.

word, I had tim do my porting, boring, nozzle and it was pretty cheap. I had a FP mod pipe on my ski and noticed no low end help, mid and high were greatly improved though

I don't mean to thread jack, but how does a full coffmans exhaust compare to the factory pipe? When I bought my ski it came with the coffmans full pipe w/ silencer, would it be worth it to swap to a factory?

An FP SXI dry pipe will make a big difference. The FP limited pipe is more better than the Coffmans when there is too much pump load. Its advantage is less with lighter loads. Get a Skat 9-17 swirl or a concord 12-18 with a 650 nozzle
