SX/SXi/SXi Pro 750 sx no low end power

so i put in a timing advance over winter and took it out today. it feels faster over all top speed but out of the hole it is awful. so is that because of the timing or is something ells wrong?

If this is a stock single carb sx we are talking about, you will need a lot more than a timing advance to improve low end. Start with factory pipe, bigger carb, aluminum flywheel, and the right impeller, and you won't even believe your on the same ski....but it's gonna cost you! What other mods do you have?

Yeah it is a single carb. I'm running a Factory wet pipe. I think thats what it's called. It's the factory pipe that puts water in the pipe at a certin rpm. I'm also running v force reeds, double scoop intake great, extended ride plate and an aftermarket impeller, I don't know what pitch off hand though. so what's the next step then? For some reason I think my ski had a lot more low end power last year then this though.

You have a really good start on aftermarket goodies bro...check your compression, see where it's at and make sure it's not low....depending on where it's at you could get an aftermarket head or mill yours to increase it, which would help low end too. It was an expensive upgrade but for me the aluminum flywheel helped a ton! there is a dude on here name is zero who will lighten a stock one for a fair price, I've never used him but he has a good reputation. Find out the pitch of that impeller too...just some ideas

Sweet thanks for the imput. I found some stock dual sxi carbs on eBay, I'm thinking about buying. Would it be worth it? And can I reuse my reeds I have on now or do I need to get new ones with the different carbs?

What year is this ski? I'm assuming small pin motor? my opinion is get a bigger single carb like a 46 mikuni rather than the dual carbs....I have a set of stock carbs, stock intake, and stock flame arrester still with choke setup if that's the way you decide to go though...if your in holland I'm not far from you.

I really don't want to ditch the plate but I want more power out of the hole. That would be cool if I could buy those carbs from you if I decide to go that rout. My ski is a 94' 750 sx I dont know if it is a big Pin or small pin so what ever the 94s came with. How much would you want for the carbs? And how much more power would I get out it? Where do you live then if you are close to holland? Ill look around for a 46 mikuni and see what I can come up with and see how much it is. That for all the help btw!

I'm just north of you by Muskegon..i don't know what the carbs are worth to be honest, we could work something out if you want em but I'd look for a bigger single first if I was you, they are easier to tune and better throttle response in my experience. Let me know, they aren't going anywhere , they are just sitting on the bench so take your time..

Ok cool I'll keep looking for one. I just went out and it's still the same deal, I've got no power out of the hole. I think this week I'm going to rip that timing advance out and see what that does. Also if you ever come ride twords holland let me know, it's always fun riding with more people. Thanks again!

down with the sickness
Too many variables to say what is happening for sure, but I'll tell you my setup that hits hard on bottom. Big hub impeller (I'm running the hooker), 3mm milled off stock head, FP limited, msd enhancer (back to back from stock cdi I noticed very little if any difference though), sbn 42 or 44 can't remember. I'm actually running dual 44 blackjacks now, but mikuni hit as hard (haven't tuned new carbs yet though), very light porting (matching ports/gaskets/manifolds. *Except* for the crazy built strokers my sx hits harder on the *very bottom* than any other ski i've ridden (yes square or round nose yami's too) to date.
