750 sx water logged!

Well I am beginning the defoaming process as my ski has taken on some added weight over the years. Problem here is that I hate to destroy my tray mats that are in great shape. Does anyone know a way to remove the mats without destroying them. I figure I would ask before just ripping them out. I would rather put mat $ into the engine. What foam product works best for refoaming ski?

You can defoam a ski without pulling the mats but you have to install a scupper and pull your exhaust pipe. If you use a couple drill bit extensions (the 12 inch ones) and a 2 inch wire cup brush. And a 1 inch to get the edges. Hook that into a die grinder and a shop vac to the other end of where your exhaust goes through. That cup brush eats through the foam like nothing. I defoamed my ski in about 2 hours without pulling the mats.

There is a thread around here that has the process. Here is a picture of the inside of my ski through the scupper during the process

EDIT: That is a Kawasaki I don't know if you can get the exhaust tube out? If not then make a front exhaust and run dual scuppers out the back..

de-foaming

Thanks, I have been looking for some threads for the past two days. I will keep looking. Not sure about the Yamaha but I know the 750's exhaust tube starts out at the top of the engine compartment and curves down to the exit. I am sure i can remove all the glass at the back of the engine compartment, but not sure if that will weaken the hull or not.

I got all itchy yesterday. Took a lot of foam out. If i remove the rear exhaust can I run a straignt pipe out the front. Or do I need more beack pressure for the engine. And if so should I run a sj waterbox (aftermarket) due to it being upfront.

You can run a front exhaust only if you want it won't hurt anything. It might be a little louder but that is all. The SJ box would work fine also. I would have front exhaust only if my ski wasn't painted. I could remove it and repaint but matching my paint would be a major problem.
