750 SXI pro introduction and build thread

I didn't see an introduction thread so hi guys.

I'm in the middle stages of a 750 pro build and hoped this forum could lend some useful information and suggestions. especially links or sources for RELIABLE parts.
My build isn't going to be nearly as rad as some of the builds i have been reading, my MAIN goal is reliability as well as durability, but i have a lot of options since i'm not the one writing the check.

Backstory: last time the ski saw water was back in 05. then it sat in my friends yard with leaves and branches and what have you. It got put on the back burner and forgotten about. he claims it had a fresh engine block and just never had the time to tune it right or something.whatever.
Dial ahead to 2015 its in my garage torn apart with a seized up pump/impeller/housing. carbs don't move, lots of salty/ cast aluminum dust coming out of the silencer box or spark arrester, motor mounts dry rotted, fuel hoses cracking, throttle/choke cables move hard and thats just including mechanicals. i wont get into cosmetic YET.

-BLOCK- I have checked the cyl and block best I can with a borescope and that seems to be the only salvageable part of the mechanics. no scoring or rust inside. i sprayed some mystery oil and wd40 into the cyls to help out if any rings may have stuck. the block really does seem in good shape so i am going to plan to use that unless my comp test prove otherwise.
??What should i be looking for with this considering i cannot get it up to temp and its a two stroke so compression will not be spot on?

-Carbs- I am planning a complete rebuild of the carbs top to bottom. everything that CAN be replaced WILL. Should i stick with an OE carb kit (if thats even available) or does someone carry a complete kit worth picking up?

-PUMP- What do i do with this thing? can i attempt to press out the impeller from the housing without causing large damage? or can i just buy a complete bolt on rebuilt or new setup? if so where from?

Are there any unforseen events of pain and misfortune during this rebuild i should become aware of before i hatch any further along with it? nightmare issues, untraceable problems, fire and brimstone, etc?
Thanks a bunch in advance, it may be a pipe dream but i plan on having this thing strapped to my swim platform heading out to the surf by June.

Welcome. Sounds like you have a good idea of what you've gotten your self into. Rebuild the stock carbs with an oe kit. The pump may or may not be salvageable. Probably more work than its worth. Just grab an Sxr stock pump and let it eat. Compression should be close enough with the engine cold 150 ish or more.

Rip your electronics apart ASAP and check them out as you will likely have to source those parts too.

hmm not what i wanted to hear but exactly the information im looking for.
When you say to rip the electronics apart are you talking the sealed housing that holds what looks like the injection pump and the ign circuits?
ooof i hate electrical work in boats.

2 areas the front cover on the engine where, the flywheel and stator and magneato are. and then the grey bod on the firewall that has the CDI, coil and starter relay

i pulled the stator off and opened up the electronics box, all looks clean except for one sensor which shows some corrosion(see picture) and one of the plastic through fittings has been broken.
Also this unit has what i have found to be a block drain, I am pretty sure i want to block that sucker off right? i dont think it does anything important does it?

Where can i get a new plastic fitting? and what are they called?

Hey man, I think that plastic fitting is on the bottom of the case right? if it is, its a valve you can open to drain the engine of water if needed. Its in your best interest to just take that plastic thing off and block it off. People swell a block off kits. I recommend, finding a stainless steel bolt that can thread in there nice and tight. Before you thread in the SS bolt, coat it heavily in JB weld.

Oh I see. Google, OEM kawasaki parts. You will find places that sell oem parts. Look up your year and model. Then go to "electrical." They sell those parts. There like around 5 or 10 bucks for those.

Yes block off the crank case drain, ebay has the plates for 15 bucks.

Also bypass the over temp sensor, they get clogged frequently and cause breakdowns, its the 2 cooling hoses that go into the e box. just hook them together instead of going through the sensor.

plastic grommet : 59071-3001 any online OEM Reseller should be able to get them. Also JSS generally carries them http://www.jetskisolutions.com. Also I have never had an issue with any overheat sensor in 25yrs, that being said bypassing/ or not bypassing it not that big of a Deal. More concerning is the condition of the Case and Crank.
