SX/SXi/SXi Pro 750sx exhaust port chamfering?

I just got my motor bored to 1.5mm over and I've heard that its necessary to chamfer the exhaust ports after it gets bored out? Is it really that necessary?

You will want all cylinder porting to be chamfered.
The chamfer eases the ring lip sliding over/across the ports.
If not chamfered the ring can catch on the port, and break rings, pistons, etc

There are specs. I wouldn't say they aren't important, but you are just taking the edge off. I do it with a file by hand til you can barely see it. You can use a dremel but taking off too much will possibly change your port timing and lose some power.

I take my cylinders to the guy we used when I worked in an automotive garage as I trust him and he does good work, but he doesn't chamfer. Any 2 stroke place will do it in 10 minutes for cheap and if you are not experienced, might be the way to go. If you went to a 2 stroke place, they should have definitely done it or I would question their work.

That's what I use. Make sure that they are clean enough that you can put a rag or paper towel in there and it comes out spotless. Anything on it and you've got filings in there still.

I mean to make sure that you don't have any of the metal dust left in there when you are done. You don't want it getting into your bearings or wearing stuff out prematurely.

For the smoothness of the port, I rub my finger on it to feel how smooth it is.
