SX/SXi/SXi Pro 750sx pump alignment

I'm reinstalling the jet pump on my 94 sx, and can't seem to get it aligned properly. With all 4 pump bolts hand tight the impeller and shaft spin perfectly. I can tighten the back 2 bolts and everything still spins good, the problem shows up once i torque down the front 2 bolts. There seems to be a slight impeller catch as I spin the driveshaft.

I assume the easiest way is to shim between the hull and the pump (front bolts). This is the first time I've torn a pump apart on a ski and certainly wish I would have paid closer attention when removing from the boat in the first place. Just wanted to see if anyone has any advice or tips on how to get everything aligned the easiest. Everything is stock.

Thanks for the help!

If the coupler is not wearing out then it would be better to shim the pump instead of adjusting the engine and bulkhead fitting.

Coupler is good, I'll try shimming the front of the pump. Its just odd to me, everything spins free for about 320 degrees its the last 40 that the impeller rubs in the housing and has resistance.

Well, off to the beach for the weekend. Ill give this a try on Monday. Thanks Kev

Slide your engine forward off of your coupler. Take your bulkhead housing bolts out and pull it away from the bulkhead. Then tighten all pump bolts. If you have to push your shaft down to get your housing bolts to line up, you need to shim the front, if you have to pull up on the shaft, you need to shim the rear.
