750sxi to sxr800 conversion NEWB

Hey guys. I am going to be putting an sxr 800 short block into a 750sxi hull and was curious what pointers if any I could get from people that have done it or that are familiar with it. I am very familiar with aftermarket hulls and yamaha setups as I have built numerous ones but I have only worked on a handful of 750s.
What am I going to need?
What modifications need to be done?
What 750 accessories will go from the blown motor onto the sxr block?

Thanks again gents!

That's what I was thinking but just wanted to confirm.

Yea you shouldnt run into any issues. Intake manifold bolt patterns are the same for 750s and 850s, but 750 small pins only had 10 studs and 750 big pins and 800s have 12 studs, but intake manifolds will bolt up all the same.

The waterbox in different on the 750. It's in the left rear on engine compartment. You will need the 750 exhaust. Also the electric box mounting is much different use all the brackets from the 750. Alos the timing is different. Are you using the 750 or 800 electrical box? You much better off using the SXR electrical as it is a DC CDI.

The electronics on a sx are different, the 02 sxi pro and 03 sxr are the same. If you have the whole setup from the 800 your good to go. It will bolt right in. If your missing the 800 stator Im pretty sure you have to swap your 750 stator onto the 800 and use the 750 cdi. Youll be able to run all the 750 stuff on it weather its stock stuff or AM. I assume you have a exhaust off the 750 but if you need one I have a stock sxi pro complete in my garage.

I have the entire sxi. The shortblock is toast/garbage/done. I figure I my as well throw an 800 because I know a guy that has an extra one sitting around (he wants quite a bit though). He has all the parts to the 800 if I need so im just trying to figure the best way to go about this. Do I run the 800 shortblock and electronics then 750sx everything else? Does anyone have a cheap sxr 800 SB kicking around? BTW this is not for me this is for a friend but I will be doing all the work.

Yea, If its a 04 or newer sxr youll have to run the 750 stator from the original motor. If its a 03 the stator is the same I believe. If your looking to budget build it youd be better off rebuilding the 750. You can pick up cylinders pretty cheap. the best setup is big pin crankcase with small pin cylinders. next would be the 800cyl then lastly the big pin 750 cylinder. Depending on what hes asking and what you can salvage from the current motor you might be able to save a few bucks and get a harder hitting motor.

This is so easy it doesn't even classify as a swap, more like just removing one engine and replacing it with the 800. My brother and I have 800s in our pros. His is a wake jumper, mine has a retro racer vibe like the old team kawi skis, but with a Nynja wet pipe. Set up well this is THE WAY how to build up a 750 hull. The newer engine and electrics is a great combination. I could have had an sxr for the amount I've spent on my pro but I'm more happy with where I'm at. 800s are good in Pros, 1100s are good for sxrs.

Depending on what you want to do, bored out 750 cylinders do work very well as 800 replacements too. 750sx are low end, lime green dual carb engines are middle of the road, and big pin/ pro cylinders are high end. Here's what I'd recommend:

Bored and freestyle ported 750sx or lime green head small pin (if the 800 route is too expensive)
750 factory limited pipe with matching manifold (has a unique head pipe bolt rotation)
regular kawasaki factory pipe head pipe
dual oem mikunis w/ aftermarket f/as, sxi pro/ sxr intake manifold
advent ignition
14/19 C-75 swirl big hub impeller
bigger nozzle, short cone ect...

That's a great combo.
