760 64x with 61x Cdi?

Hi all, longgggg time lurker here and I usually find what I need by searching but getting mixed results with this one. Anyway long story short I'm finally nearing completion of a long term superjet build using parts I've found laying around or have upgraded, the engine is a 760 64x out of a blaster 2 and in my hot little hands I have a 61x cdi. Question time, can I (being the electrical whiz I am) get this to work? Or won't work at all?

Shred long and prosper

61x stuff will bolt right up. I'm running 62t stuff on my 64x. Just gut the 64x flywheel cover and get a block off for where the oil pump goes, then install your 61x stator, flywheel, and cdi. Should be golden after that.

64x flywheel, stator, and CDI are only compatible with each other. 760 CDI is digital and totally different ignition system than 61x.

You can replace stator, flywheel, and cdi with 61x on a 760 motor without issue but you will need to replace ebox rear as well since they are different. You can reuse 760 coil, solenoid, voltage regulator, and ebox front cover.

Someone in our crew was running a 61x cdi in 62t electrics and it ran but not well.

He likely had the flywheel and stator mismatched. Everything else will work together but you MUST match up the stator and flywheel.

The coils on the stator and the magnets in the flywheel are mounted in different places on the 61X than the 62T. A mismatch will result in a +/-10 degree shift of your baseline timing.

So I went digging through the shed and found an old 64x cdi, mounted it in a pelican box and it all fired up right away. Water test today! I'll keep an eye out for a 61x flywheel and stator to swap over one day when I feel keen again
