Wondering if I could use 33cc 760 domes in a 61x 701 motor I was assembling. It has 81.5mm pistons so is that extra little gap around the squish going to be a no no.

Well I guess nobody wants to admit running the wrong size domes so I will just run the correct 83mm ones from Tomski. I’m sure it will run better anyways

I would think that may damage the piston edge. Detonation would occur even more easily that’s why I have heard 84mm pistons requires the 86mm 760 domes ? That’s what I ran on an 84mm cylinder I had that the nikasil coating failed on. (but that’s another topic). Lol I intended to run 760 domes on a 701. But I guess I won’t try it anyway just curious.

Check the squish with a piece of solder wire inline the crank mine is .012 at edge of piston

Will do. I like mine around 45/1000s -50/1000s or .045 -.050 the motor is ran at high rpm extended runs for buoys etc 12thousands sounds awfully tight to me. That’s inches right? For my use I usually use a slightly thicker base gasket.025+ to get a little more squish. I learned this after a couple stuck pistons. I also run the zeel taking timing off the top end versus an enhancer. The zeel probably was the answer though.
