760 help

im tryin to figure out what year and what my engine came out of, i purchased a 91 sn with a 760 swap but last time i road it there was no power, ( it sunk the week prior but ran okay after i got it running again)(note to self NEVER open hood out on the lake to check fuel lol...) if i eased into it it would slwoly start to pick up then id pin it and it would bog, so i have new plus wires, i just cleaned my carbs today but the diaprams have some cracking, so id like to purchase a gasket kit but i need the year and model. its a 760 62t 64x not sure if its a 760 cdi im new to all this so any help would be greatly apreciated, als my crank case is missing 2 bolts is than an issue?

Carb's are probably 38 or 44mm Mikunis and share the same rebuild kits.

You may still have water in your fuel or electrical system.

Missing crank case bolts not good. You may have blown a base gasket which would explain the loss of power. Pictures please so that we can have a better idea of your situation.

If you PM Jetmaniac and say that you need Mikuni carb kits for 44's, he won't ask you the year or the model and he will likely be cheaper than any dealer pricing you will find.

phone was at 1% couldnt get anymore

If you cracked the diaphrams then yes, that would have a big impact on your fuel delivery.

Did you pull the tank and drain out all the fuel and check for water? How about the water separator, (if it still has one).

okay that makes sense i cleaned the carbs today and the diaphrams had some cracking but i didnt think it would affect it that much but i guess its worse than i thought and i burned all the fuel that was in the tank the next day i got it running, put new fuel in went out riding again then the bogging started, pretty sure i drained the water seperator when i was trying to get it started the next day

The bolts are missing from the flywheel cover. Moisture may have gotten into the electrics behind this cover and are causing issues. Pop it off to check.

You will probably need a new gasket. Some people apply grease to the gasket to stop it bonding to the flywheel cover/crankcase surfaces. If this is the case you might get away with re-using the original gasket.

You can have water in the electrical box or inside the timing cover with those missing bolts. Cracked anything in the carbs is a big no no so replace those and check for water in the other places.

Someone who is asking you for model and year is not a good deal. They may be giving you the lowest price but you'd be better served buying from someone who is clued in to what you have going on
