Surfriding 771 with a 155 OEM and ?? prop? surf ski?

Waterdawg was ahead of the game with the 155 pumps and a guy I ride with saw he offered a 155 shoe years ago when builders were still telling people they needed to drop to a 140 pump to make the bigger motors work. My xjet pump intake is huge and I didnt have to modify it at all for good results. I ran stock reeds and 38's on my ported 61x/62t 718 with a factory pipe and the jetting from their website and it ran great and was great on gas. I did switch to 44's and v3's and saw alot of improvement with only slightly more fuel consumption

I am also only running a protec pipe which is for high end but I made it work. I have my motor so dialed in and I can't get any more bottom end but I will be going lay down pipe, twin 46's and probably going to get a new cylinder and go 760 or bigger. I'd like to get up an 850 and then it'll really turn the 6/12 on the bottom end

I'm running a ss865pv,duel 48 full specs,lay down wet pipe with a 6/12 scat in a circus.Still having low end issues.Nozzle bored to 89mm.
In all other aspects the ski runs strong just low,low end has been the problem.Riding surf l wouldn't think it would be an issue cause the low mid to mid range is strong.

maybe the 6/12 is too low? I am no expert and pump tuning can be different in every ski is the problem. I feel I am slightly over proped with the 7/15 but with a super stub cone and 90mm reduction I would say I dont have any bottom end issues. The one major difference I found between the two is that a 144 has a little more snap so you could see a wave and just drive at it where as the 155 requires you to preload the pump for good results

I 100% for sure need that snap to attack the lip! Lake Erie waves are close together and leave no time to preload.

My current 144 13/16-3mm gives me that for sure! And 49mph top which is respectable!

I need to match that feeling but more punch/more volume of water....

Matt we saw about a 20% gain going from a 144 to 148, the 155 is even better although the larger tunnel seem to grab the wave more in surf maneuvers, not allowing slides, etc unless off throttle. Some still prefer the 148 in the surf for this reason. Also ski becomes more light switchy. IMO 155 is the way to go but if you have a 144/148 tunnel get the 148. With the current prices, its a no brainier. The current 148 and 155 prices have been cut in half the last few years and now the knowledge base is out there for prop selection as well.

A 148 sure would be less work and less money!

I like the idea of a last second big gulp off the lip re-entry....but I still want to be able to hit 49mph like now...
