I did not realize it was adjustible.
X2. Same here, the RRP set up is first class. Save the OEM pole before it breaks, then when you sell the SXR put it back on and get well over half of what you paid for the RRP SXR setup. My stock SXR handlepole didn't even make it one summer. I replaced it with an AC Racing Handlepole, which lasted two years...cracked welds and broke the subplate mounts. The AC Poles are complete turds in IMHO, not to mention Kawi style poles have the turn plate hanging, while the yamaha style is the opposite and superior in many ways.
I'm happy with my RRP Billet pole. It's a work of art compared to the AC pole. I went with the Dual Breather RRP mount to maximize airflow. I plugged the front breather hole on the hood and cut a second one in the rear of the hood. The only time I've had water get in is from complete subs or getting washed from the back side riding surf(water right down the tubes).
Not a cheap setup, but I sleep well at night knowing it's billet...proof![]()
I have a 800 SXR limited that I run buoys 90% of the time. Was thinking about getting a aftermarket pole. My question is..........is there a performance gain to buoy riding with the aftermarket poles? And if so what? And what pole do you recommend? Thanks
I just installed the prowatercraft pole. Now that I got all the correct parts and installed it correctly I love it. They didn't send me/tell me what was not included in the kit so I had to wait two weeks to get it squared away. Customer service was good. They didn't supply much for directions but at least there is a YouTube video on there website.
All in all it feels great, feels shorter. I like the wider 0 degree bars. Hardest part was pulling the steering cable further into the hull. If I were to do it again I would get the bracket they sell just to alleviate some stress on the steering cable. I bought the pole, steering system, bars/clamps and the pole stop. The pole stop isn't included but licoriceing should be... I opted to upgrade some of the bolts since they didn't supply large nylocks for the steering system. They use a primitive double nut to lock down the turn plate. All in all it should be a good system, just hope my steering cable holds up as it has a pretty good bend to it.
If I were you I would buy the pole for the 800 and if it's not short enough then you can shorten it alot before you have to cut the tubes. The pole itself is adjustable in length. It feels shorter and can be shortened easily another 2-3 inch's.
Zeke, we are stoked that you are happy with your pole. If you could, send us some pictures of it. Also, let us know what you think we should work on to eliminate any sort of problems with future orders.
Thank you!
Email please! Will do. I have a few things in mind other then that it's been great. Would you like to be contacted on here or by email?
