Woah nelly, don't throw in the towel just yet. I've seen them really close to the fuel tank and that's the only place I've seen them.

I took a picture real quick for instructional purposes. Right Where my thumb nail is in the picture is the relative position of the fuel restrictor location in my experience.

Yea, I'd just run it & see how it goes.

When I was having fuel problems on my 87, I replaced all the fuel lines, removed the stock one & made an inline restrictor. It works but is a pain to get done. Used a brass hose barb & a jet from the local motorcycle shop.

ya looks like a pain to replace all the lines. It appears the e box needs to come out in order to reach the petcock? I'm used to dirtbikes with like 4" of fuel line

Fuel lines are like a 2 beer job. Yea, the ebox comes out to get to the petcock. Pull the battery to make it easier too. 4 bolts & the ebox is off.
