89 direct steer, arm extension

Have an 89 x2, the steering is terrible, almost unrideable, I know there are some mods but is it possible to extend the top steering arm to get more nozzle throw? The nozzle only seems to use half it's possible movement in either direction

Im not sure about modifying the stock steering arm unless you have it welded. I believe the quicksteer arms fit on the stock steering but i cant say for 100%. One issue with the direct steer is the the cable ks so long it bends on the steering side. There is a cheap fix with an aluminum tube, a piece of hose and 2 clampslor you can buy a premade kit from rad dudes.

@Twinturbostang may be able to help you further with a quicksteer arm.

You can take the stock steering arm and hit it with a hammer to flatten it out. Just hit it a couple times, and test it out. If you want more throw, repeat the process. Just don't pound it flat or else it'll be too long, and it'll hit the hull braces and you'll have to notch them.

First off remove the hull support on that side. Its useless. Second disconnect the steering arm from the steering cable. Turn the steering till it stops then hold the cable at full throw and see what your difference is. Then you can get a visual on where the steering arm ball needs to be compared to your steering cable in which you are holding to max throw.
