90 superjet electrical problems

Need help figuring out what is wrong with my 1990 650 superjet. Plugs won't spark more than a couple times so engine won't start. I've replaced the starter relay, ignition coil, and added a ground wire. Still nothing. What else can I do? What else causes weak and intermittent sparking?

The stator or cdi could also cause it. Stator resistance values can be measured from inside the elec. box. CDI, not really, you'd have to swap it.

Your electrical system is 26 years old. If it were me I would remove the entire electrical box (wires, stator everything). Send it off to get the components checked out and get the battery cables replaced. Spending a little money doing that will save a lot of frustration and get many more years of service out of it.

Could also be the lanyard post switch. Find the harness coming out of your ebox with the black and white wires and disconnect the connector. See if the ski sparks and or starts. If it does, it's the lanyard post switch that is bad. Just know that you won't be able to kill the motor until you plug the harness back in.

Thanks for the info. I'm probably gonna try to get a CDI and try it again before I take it all out. Has anyone bought this Caltric brand electrical components off of amazon?

There are many things you can get away with by buying aftermarket parts but jetski electronics are not one of them!!!!! Do not buy Caltric!! You will actually be better off buying used OEM parts than buying new Caltric.

Reach out to guys like Jetmaniac or WizardPowerSports and other such people here on the forum before buying cheap knockoffs, you can thank me later. :)
