300/440/550 '91 550sx reed motor?

hey guys, i saw a 91 550sx for sale locally and i was wondering if it had the reed motor or not?

1991 was the first year for a 550 reed motor.

actually half way through 1990 they switched, so some have the piston port and some have the reed. not to get to technical or anything

hmmm any way to tell the difference?

the reed motors are sliver. The intake ports stick out at an angle to allow room for the reeds, while on a piston port, the intake ports are not angled and don't stick out.

gotcha, i think ill stick with the motor being silver to avoid any angle/lack of angle thanks!

Be carful though. I've seen piston port motors painted silver.
