I checked ohms between boots results were 2. I checked voltage output of stator. Black lead on neg. Battery red lead on output wire of stator wit cdi hooked up. 13 volts. Still no spark. This is a new cdi. Anyone have ideas. I put a screwdriver in the boot and checked for spark agains the head bolt. No spark.

Sheared flywheel key? Fuse holder and fuse in good shape? They use the glass tube fuses which are mediocre at best for reliability. It has been a long time since I had a 650sx but I do recall that aside from the CDI/coil pack, there is not much about them to go wrong. The only other possibility is maybe in the start/stop switch.

I did a check between the 2 leads from the kill switch it is working fine. I even unpluged the one lead from cdi and still no spark. What are the chances of a bad cdi. This is the second new unit i tried. Is there a way to check the cdi units?

Absolutely it is possible the coil or the built in CDI is toast. It was a bit of a bad design really. I had to replace the one on my old 650sx too. If you are trying used CDI's you could have two bad ones. I'm sure if you searched the net you could find a service manual for it, they do offer testing procedures for the CDI but I can say from experience that Kawi has been very hit or miss with their values on CDI testing. I tested a brand new CDI from Kawi when working at the dealership for a 750 runabout, both new and old CDI's tested exactly the same when comparing to each other but were nowhere near the values they listed in the manual.

I have been buying new ones from ebay. I wish i had a used one that i knew worked to try. I would not have thought that out of 2 new ones that bolth would be bad. But i will return it and try a 3rd one. Thanks

Are they new OEM or are the new aftermarket like Arieltek? The aftermarket ones are very mediocre at best. I've seen Areilteks fail very quickly. That was the one I replaced from my old Kawi. I would look in the parts forums and post in the want to buy forum what you need. With Kawi, because their electrical is a bit of an oddball design I wouldn't go aftermarket for just straight replacement purposes.
