but did you just measure the exhaust tube and cut 3 inches off? did the back place come off with the tube or did it come off separate?

I measured three inches from the bottom of hull. Cut the 3 . Then cut the cap and moved cap up. Practically flush with where it was cut. Exhaust was out. After everything was put back on and glassed I put exhaust back in and it sticks out a little more inside hull but it should be fine. Pictures I posted show step by step.

Diggity just drill out the three rivets in the back of exhaust flange and then u gotta take out the the glur that held it in and the the tube come right out

I shortened one 3" the exact same way and left the exhaust tube full length. Just cut the rubber hose down. I didnt have that hard of a time removing the exhaust tube with the gunwhales still in place.

now we get more overlap from the water-box to bulkhead tupe against the metal exhaust tube. if anything it's a benefit.

ok so you don't have to cut the tube.. got it and the flange wasn't welded to the exhaust tube? ^ Garrett said it is or maybe. i just want to pull the tube out so that i don't have to worry about glassing around it.

should be able to extrat the whole tube, i'm going to try and pull it out tonight, will be way easier to glass with it not there.

Shes just has to go over it with bondoglass type stuff from the fiberglass store to smooth it out

For me I like the look way better and its def lighter but also the tray is wider. Im going to b getting foot straps soon too.

Its easier to glass with it out the way but I managed to glass aroumd it bc I forgot to glass first. -__-. But it worked out.

when i removed my tube i drilled out the rivets then on the inside i took a 2x4 and hit it against the tube with a rubber mallet and it slid right out

make sure you have a roller to get all the bubbles out. bubbles are bad.

leaving the hull but modding the top deck?
Met a guy last year at the lake I go to who had a 650sx flat deck, asked the same thing. He said it was nice since the tray was so big, so you could put weight down on the ski where ever you wanted for a different approach to controlling it.
