91 SJ 650 won’t start

91 SJ 650 won’t start. Turning over but plugs are not sparking. I have the electrical box open. I have the ignition coil out. Put on multimeter on ohms and CDI side reads .3 and the spark plug boot side reads overload. Is this a sign that my coil is bad?

Anything helps, thanks guys

OK I have tried disconnecting the black and white wire for the start stop switch. And that did not fix my problem. So now you’re saying remove the stater and throw the multimeter on it?

That area should be watertight. With your flywheel being that rusty, there's a very good chance something on the stator is bad. When you put it back together, replace the o-ring on the starter, use a new cover gasket and make sure the mating surface is clean. Use a razor blade to scrape the junk off. Just be careful not to gouge the aluminum.

OK thank you, needless to say I’m not exactly sure how the ohms on a multimeter work. I have the e-box open. I will run the ignition coil next. I’m not getting spark is my issue.
OK so I ordered a new ignition coil. The CDI side orange and black connectors it dances at .2 ~ .5 .. However I unscrewed the boots on my old one cut off an inch and a half and got a 4.20 reading. when I check the Actual boots it reads 14.40 ??

boots will have between 2-5 resistance, if its more might have to cut back coil ( boot side )
you do not have to remove stator to ohm it ,do that from electrical box, green wires are charging u need to ohm the igniter side
if thats ok ( ohms ok within tolerance )
Ohm out your coil pack orange black etc... make sure thats within tolerances
then test SS switch and see if it ( sparks ) or attempts to start when u let go of the start button ....yes when u press start button and when u let go it appears to spark once , like it wants to start , that would indicate your CDI is toast

So the green to green is dancing 1.2 ~ .9 .. is that concerning?. The red/white to black is intolerance and I believe the brown/white to black is as well.
