Super Jet 91 SN Superjet Build

Picked up a 91 SN for $125 with a trailer. The motor was seized up, it had water sitting in it for roughly 9 years, but the rest of the ski is in decent shape. The plan was to tear down the whole thing, clean it up and get it running to start.

Here's some pics of what I started with.

Decided that since I had the whole thing torn down, I might as well put footholds in. So I picked up a set of the Waterdawg Kustomz REV ones.

This tool worked suprisingly well for cutting. It cut like butter and I had the first set of cuts done in a few minutes.

For one I heard if other people noticing more bottom end power from same engine setups in a sn hull and a rn hull, only difference being rn has a larger exit pipe. I do think it makes a difference. The other thing that worries me is it appears that you pierced the pipe in your attempt to dent it. It will soak your foam and just seems bad practice to repair a hole in an exhaust pipe with glass and resin

I will pay attention to the loss in power. Definitely didn't break the pipe open though. I was careful to specifically not do that. I don't have much experience with fiberglass, so pounding the exhaust down a bit was my best option.

I'll be installing hydroturf and a hood seal this week.

Looking at options for the motor. Since my motor is beyond shot, I'm debating between replacing the 650 or swapping in a 701. From what I've read, I need the 701, intake and exhaust manifolds, and CDI. Anything else? Recommendations?

You can find decent running vxr pros for cheap $500 range. Might pay $1000 and you probably would get a trailer out of it too. Then you have all 700 61x stuff, electronics, intake and exhaust.
